NEW HOMES UNDER WAY IN SNIBSTON

13th June 2017

Work to build 23 new, quality, affordable homes in Snibston is under way and to celebrate the £3.1m investment being made by emh group members of their management team have been to site today to help with the construction.

The new homes being built by Lindum Construction will include a mix of two and three bed houses and one and two bed apartments with parking for 46 vehicles.

Located within the Snibston Colliery mining area, and conservation area, the development went through a rigorous design and planning process as an urban extension before being approved. To mark the history of the site a memorial to the Snibston mine will be constructed which will consist of a 4.2m diameter paved area with a plaque replicating the winding wheel of the former coal mine.

Talking about the importance of the new homes being created Jim Patman, Executive Director of Development at emh group said “The group is leading in the provision of around 900 quality new affordable homes across the East Midlands over the next five years with funding support from the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) Shared Ownership and Affordable Homes Programme. This development symbolises another step forward in our aspiration to provide much needed, high quality, affordable homes for local people and follows the success of a number of new affordable housing schemes contributing to the regeneration of local communities.”

Work is on schedule with ground work already completed, the brick work forming part of the boundary wall to the discovery park and sport field is well under way and the ground beams which form the foundations for the plots are being installed to be followed by the timber frames about to be built.

Simon Gregory, MD of Lindum Construction, said “Our experienced team is working hard to ensure this complex construction project progresses as planned and we remain on schedule to have the development completed early next year.  Jim Patman from emh group has been planning this project for many years, it is great to finally see it coming to fruition.  Our strong partnership with the group and shared vision will help make the new homes a reality for those people and their families in need of a place to live. Our specialist housing team and the partners involved are proud to play our part in creating these new homes.”

John Porthouse, Site Manager for Lindum Construction, added “We would like to thank the local community for their continued tolerance and understanding as, although we do our best to minimise any disruption, it is inevitable that the construction work being undertaken will not go unnoticed. We will continue to keep the local residents informed of what is happening on site.”

This development is registered with the Considerate Constructor Scheme.
