A Level students get behind the scenes tour of Lindum Business Park

28th September 2017

School children were given a behind the scenes look around Lindum as part of their A Level Business Studies course.
The Year 12 pupils, from The Priory Academy LSST in Lincoln, were shown around the North Hykeham base and given a tour of the Business Park on Thursday, September 28.
They were also given a presentation on Lindum’s structure and business model and had the chance to grill staff about the company’s strengths and weaknesses.
During the session, they talked about how Lindum stays competitive, how and why the company runs the business park and how it has responded to opportunities in the market place.
The visit was hosted by Dan Clark and Hayley Cowell from the Bids team, who explained all about the different divisions, the employee share scheme and how the business has grown over the years.
The students will take the information they’ve learned and use it to create a piece of course work that will contribute towards their final grade for the year.
The pupils were accompanied by Business Studies teachers Angela Morley and Rebecca Cavill.
Mrs Morley said: “It’s really great to do something like this. During the first year of their A Levels they have to complete two pieces of course work and sit one exam. This visit, and what they learn from subsequent discussions back in the classroom, will be part of this.
“It is great for them to get out and meet people working in real businesses, particularly businesses like Lindum, which is quite the success story.
“It brings the subject to life and what they learn here can be reflected upon during the rest of their studies.”
During a question and answer session after the tour, the pupils asked about Lindum’s recruitment techniques and Dan explained how the company uses a range of methods, from personal recommendations from staff to jobs fairs.
They also explained what sets Lindum apart from its competitors.
Hayley said: “The personal touch is what gives us the edge. All our staff want to ensure we are doing the best possible job for our customers.”
