Sparkhouse Phase II

University of Lincoln

This striking four storey building forms Phase 2 of the Sparkhouse Studios for the University of Lincoln, following the Phase 1 development carried out by Lindum in 2003.

The building incorporates the latest sustainable technologies, these include passive stack ventilation, Sedum roof and photovoltaic cells.

Built on the site of the old railway goods yard, and between two existing university buildings which remained in full operation, the facility provides university graduates and new businesses with subsidised rented office and workshop space. Steelwork erection between two live buildings and the tight city centre site meant difficult access for the following: scaffolding, cladding and M&E trades.

Our site team liaised with local business users and neighbours to ensure our work did not adversely impact on their activities.

The building achieved BREEAM Excellent.
