The Bonding Warehouse
A major warehouse refurbishment on a riverside location in the centre of York.
The old building now houses; offices, luxury apartments and a restaurant. As the building had been derelict for 14 years a full structural report was carried out, this highlighted the need for some major repairs one being the construction of a specialist flood escape staircase. The challenge was also to repair the building from a 100 year flood level and with it being on a restricted waterside site there was the need for constant careful planning to ensure the safety of the workers, general public and to make sure the building didn't experience any further damage.
The Client has moved into the building and chose Lindum to pilot the programme as we are a local contractor in the area and they knew that the company had the capabilities to tackle this type of project.
The Bonding Warehouse is a listed building and therefore there were many listed building conditions that had to be addressed throughout the time on site. The building fabrication was a challenge to work with due to the age of the building and the windows were of a specific fit and style and therefore specialist glazing had to be installed.
