Guild House Refurbishment

Anglia Ruskin University

Anglia Ruskin University appointed Lindum to carry out this major refurbishment project.

An existing multi-storey office block had to be transformed to accommodate the Student Nurse training facilities being relocated from Peterborough District Hospital.

The initial works programme was scheduled to last 12 weeks to co-ordinate with the closure of the District Hospital, however once on site it was discovered that the existing concrete floor could not support the increased loading requirements. The extensive strengthening operation required using a series of structural steel supports and this additional work required a further 4 weeks to complete.

In order to meet the University’s requirements to relocate their training facilities within the initial 12 week timescale, Lindum re-programmed the critical elements of the refurbishment to enable a phased handover of individual floors, preventing any adverse effect on the training needs of the Student Nurses.
