Gym & Innovation Centre
Peterborough City Council
The project consisted of two separate developments on the existing Arthur Mellows College site, the first scheme was the construction of a new build gymnasium centre and the second being the refurbishment of the old gymnasium building into an Innovation Centre.
The new gymnasium building extended to 600 sq.m. with a sports hall of 260 sq.m. with a clear internal height of 8 m including fixed gym apparatus and associated changing and WCs. Works also included new external hard and soft landscaping.
The refurbishment of the existing gymnasium included the construction of a single storey extension and new internal rooms to provide facilities for Computing, Crafts and DesignTechnology.
The construction works were carried out over 70 weeks within a busy operational college, during term times. We were mindful that the student experience must not be compromised by our presence at the facility; full co-operation with the College staff and students was key.
