Lindum was appointed to construct a new extension and carry out associated re-modelling work at one of Lincoln's well known cultural landmarks, the Grade II* listed Usher Art Gallery.

The project involved the demolition of the Coin Room, partial demolition of the Curtois Building and demolition of an existing administration bungalow. The partial demolition of the Curtois Building was to enable a viewing gallery to be built from the existing foundations and structure.

The new build construction included an extension requiring piled foundations, reinforced concrete floor slab, curtain walling and glazing to form the main entrance to the Gallery.

Internal works within the existing building were also carried out and included the excavation of a lift pit and construction of new lift shaft and lift installation.

Externally, an access ramp and steps were constructed leading up to the main reception.
