Clifton Moor Retail Park
Clifton Moor Ltd (British Land plc)
Part demolition, refurbishment and new build of the former Wickes to create 5 units totalling 47,400 square feet of retail space.
Working on a fully operational retail park it was important that the construction site perimeter fencing was functional and presentable and all activities were carried out to minimise disruption to the retailers and shoppers.
The original Wickes unit, along with the adjacent Outdoor Projects Centre were demolished and 5 units (1A to 1E) were constructed with provision for future mezzanine floors to be added to units 1B to 1E.
Alteration to the pedestrian walkways, the canopy and car parking was required, as well as completing surfacing work and landscaping to improve the image of the retail park. We also had to relocate the recycling area and mains utilities using our dedicated services procurement team.
Much of the waste material from the demolition was reused on site, with any surplus being exported to other Lindum sites in the area. This minimised landfill and made good use of recyclable materials. 85% of the labour was sourced from the local area, helping to support the local economy.
At completion we erected new free standing signage structures to existing units 3 to 6 and co-ordinated the Client’s fit out. Our Lindum electric car was used to test out the newly installed charging points.
