Elk Mill Retail Park Phase 2

British Land

Phase 2 involved the demolition of a petrol station to construct a steel framed four unit building to house a Customer Services area and three food outlets.

The building is finished with curtain walling and brickwork on the front elevation and a mixture of brickwork and cladding on the other elevations. A sedum roof was added above the Customer Services unit to reduce surface water run-off. The Customer Services unit included the fit out of the building. The three restaurant units, of a similar size, were completed to a shell finish for the retailers to facilitate their own fit out work.

A specialist children’s play area was part of the external landscaping element of the contract.

The works were carried out on a live site with a robust and frequently reviewed traffic management system in place. We installed a temporary walkway around the site using Heras and wooden board fencing to prevent any disruption to shoppers and other retailers.

The project was split into smaller phases to minimise disruption to retail tenants and shoppers.
