We are currently seeking an Assistant Design Coordinator to join the Design Team within our Lindum Peterborough Division, which focuses on major new build and refurbishment contracts in the region from £300k to £5m.

With a variety of clients, the successful candidate will assist with the overall management of the design process for a wide range of projects, to ensure compliance and maximise value engineering opportunities at both tender and construction phase.

You must have previous experience working as part of a Design Team, under client and contractor instruction. Job runners with experience in Civil Engineering would be preferred but candidates with a background in Architecture and Structural Engineering will also be considered. The ideal candidate will have experience across a range of sectors including, but not limited to; Affordable Housing, Education, Commercial, Industrial, Food and Retail.

You must have knowledge of Building Regulations and obtaining plan check approvals, Sectional Applications and working with statutory authorities through the technical vetting process, developing design alongside statutory services as well as working to Information Required Schedules.

The role also requires a good understanding of SAP calculations and S-BEM assessment so that material/M&E changes can be reviewed in line with specialist consultants. Knowledge of BREEAM and experience working with such schemes would be an advantage, as well as an understanding of NHBC and other building warranties.

You’ll be expected to keep up to date with industry standards, regulations and legislation and remain at the forefront of the latest technological developments and advances. Although not essential, a Degree or equivalent qualification in a Design or Construction-related subject would be an advantage.

The role is full-time, 40 hours per week (8.00am to 5.00pm, Monday to Friday) and based at our offices on Lindum Business Park on Newark Road, Peterborough (PE1 5TF). Our offices are large enough to social distance, so you will be expected to be in the office on a full-time basis. A full driving licence is essential as the role will involve work-related travel.
