We are currently seeking a professional trainee to join our HR & Training Team, which supports all 12 Lindum Group Trading Divisions. We currently employ 580 employees based on our construction sites, in our workshops as well as in our offices in Lincoln, Peterborough and York.

Our role is to support, guide, influence, inspire, listen, inform, challenge, coach, advise & share helpful insights.

We are looking for someone with enthusiasm and a genuine interest in people. This is an exciting opportunity to become a permanent and valued member of our HR & Training Team operating in a fast moving environment.

The role offers a mix of formal professional education – with the opportunity to attain the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) Level 3 Certificate in People Practice –  together with hands-on learning working as a member of our HR & Training Team in each of the variety of activities.

As an equal member of the Team you will be supporting our Divisional Teams with day-to-day people management, handling the challenges together as they arise.

It is a busy, ever changing environment, so you must be able to work flexibly, sometimes under pressure, while still maintaining vital accuracy. – We can’t always make things better, but mistakes and errors can make a situation a whole lot worse.

The right candidate will need to demonstrate a high degree of empathy for others. They must be a confident communicator able to establish trust in others.

Personable, professional and well-presented, the role will inevitably involve dealing with challenging and sometimes sensitive situations, all of which must be handled calmly and confidentially.

Desirable aspects

Employment or voluntary work, involving a high standard of accuracy would be advantageous.

Given the sometimes delicate nature of situations being handled, successful candidates would need to have enjoyed some degree of life experiences, similar to that of a post-graduate. This does not preclude others without a degree from applying, as holding a degree is not a prerequisite of the position and we would welcome applications from others who can offer at least equivalent life experience.

While dealing with people is the main focus operating computer software is unavoidable. Training on our bespoke systems will be provided but a competency using Microsoft Word and Excel would offer an advantage.

A full driving licence is also helpful as meeting our employees’ on-sites or in our other offices is key to treating them as individuals.

Employment Terms and Benefits

The role is full-time, 37 ½ hours per week (8.30am to 5.00pm, Monday to Friday) with flexibility as required. The role is based at our offices on Lindum Business Park on Station Road, North Hykeham.
