Lindum to open new Business Park in York

24th October 2017

Lindum is set to open a new business park on the edge of York early next year.

The Lindum Business Park will offer modern office space as well as storage and warehouse facilities in the village of Elvington.

The serviced offices will be developed inside an attractive two-storey building on York Road, which is also home to Lindum York’s offices.

The building is currently occupied by Rolawn, which is planning to relocate to a new bespoke, Lindum-built premises on Seaton Ross airfield.

The Business Park will be based on the highly successful model already in operation at Lindum’s Lincoln site, where there are currently around 40 tenants, benefitting from a range of premises and business support services.

In total, the 5,100 sq ft building could accommodate up to 100 people but space can be adapted depending on clients’ needs and requirements.

Business Park Manager Lynn Ritson said Lindum is working with local agent Briggs Burley and would be investing a considerable amount of money to refurbish the two-storey building prior to letting.

“As Rolawn move out of the building, we are expanding Lindum York to take up additional space. We will then open up the rest of the building to new tenants,” she said.

“We will be providing modern offices with business support systems such as IT services, reception and meeting rooms.

“In addition to this, the complex has ample parking and lovely landscaped gardens as well as good links to the road networks.

“We are keen to provide a mix of space to clients, including managed workspace through to larger office suites.  Offices can start at around 150 sq ft suitable for one or two people, and at the same time we are keen to provide business support to these small companies, rather than just renting them a room.

“This has always been part of our business ethic, providing those essential background services so that companies can concentrate on their core business and continue to thrive and grow.

“We find that having a good mix of different businesses means that often collaboration – and trade - develops between tenants.”

The site is situated in a very accessible location, on the west side of Elvington and is seven miles from the centre of York.

Lindum’s York offices opened in 2012 and the division currently employs 36 people, which includes 16 in the Elvington office and 20 on construction sites.

Lindum York MD Jonathan Sizer said: “Although our core business is construction, this has a surprising synergy with renting our own commercial properties, as it leads to well run, fit for purpose modern buildings, where, should any maintenance problems occur, we can offer a quick response time and a timely solution.

“In addition to renting, we aim to establish long term relationships with our tenants, which has been previously demonstrated at our Lincoln Business Park, where tenants have grown in size to occupy larger rented premises, and in some instances have even expanded to such an extent that they have gone on to buy their own premises with land and design and build provided by ourselves.

“We are delighted to be developing this new business park and believe this investment is a clear demonstration of our commitment to our continued business in York.”

Lindum’s work in York has previously included the major refurbishment of the once derelict Bonding Warehouse on the River Ouse. The listed building was brought back to life and now houses offices, luxury apartments and a restaurant.

The company has also completed a number of projects at York Racecourse, including the creation of bespoke stable doors and specialist joinery works in the Moet Champagne Bar. Other projects have included work to create new units at the Clifton Moor Retail Park, construction of 35 eco townhouses and apartments at Burnholme Drive in Heworth and major alteration work for DS Smith Packaging Ltd in Featherstone.
