Lindum has started work on North Kesteven District Council’s £3.5m development to create a new waste services depot which will ensure the highly-regarded waste services continue to run as efficiently as possible now and into the future.
In the last year alone the Waste and Street Scene Team collected more than 3.4 million general, recycling and garden waste bins, a number which is set to grow as more houses are built in the District in the years to come.
The new facility, being built on land off Moor Lane, Metheringham, will be financed through careful allocation of additional receipts as new homes are delivered.
Alongside there are seven new business units being created, for which enquiries are already being made to NKDC by aspiring tenants.
Once constructed, it will replace the current depot at Lincoln Road in the village. Completion is scheduled for late April 2018.
The new site also includes 10,000 square feet of industrial space split into new business units, continuing the Council’s determination to support the local economy and job creation.
These will be the first workshops the authority has built since Lindum constructed Blackwood Court at Teal Park, which were all let within eight months of the site’s completion, illustrating the level of demand among businesses starting up and growing within North Kesteven.
Council Leader Councillor Richard Wright, said: “It’s fantastic to see work starting on the Council’s new depot and business units being built alongside it.
“We are an authority committed to providing the highest quality services for our residents and supporting businesses to be able to grow, thrive and support the local economy while providing local jobs.
“Our Waste and Recycling Service is efficient, thorough and well thought of by our residents and we want to make sure the high standards are maintained as we go forward and as we prepare for an increase in demand in the future.”

Simon Gregory, MD of Lindum Construction, said “It is great to be working with NKDC again on an investment project which will not just see the modernisation of the Waste Recycling Service facilities but also see the creation of new business units here in Metheringham, replicating those we built at Blackwood Court on Teal Park which have proved incredibly popular.
“It is brilliant to see a forward thinking local authority having the confidence to build speculative business units that contribute to a thriving local economy. As an employee owned Construction Company based in North Kesteven we support the use of local contractors and suppliers and are proud to be a part of the team delivering this project.”
