Photo Finish Celebrations At Wetherby Racecourse

12th June 2017

What better way to reward a hard working construction team for successfully completing a magnificent project than to take them for a day at the races?

This is how members of our York Team celebrated the recent completion of a major project at Wetherby Racecourse, enjoying first-hand the outstanding new facilities they have helped create.

Chief Executive & Clerk of the Course, Jonjo Sanderson, said “We were delighted to have members of the Lindum Team here to enjoy the racing, hospitality and entertainment as many of them have spent the majority of their working lives over the past 46 weeks here. We are looking forward to the official opening of the new stand scheduled for later in the year on 18th October, when we will be able to showcase fully the excellent new facilities and improvements we have made as part of the £3.5 million redevelopment project.”

“We extend huge thanks to all the Lindum Team, who have done a great job and managed to carry out major works without disruption to our racing programme - not a small feat by anyone’s standards, particularly when you think we operate the majority of our fixtures are during the winter months!”

From the office based in Elvington near York, the Lindum team has extensive experience in a range of industry sectors including leisure and has a proven track record in particular in the horse racing sector, having successfully completed a major redevelopment project at another premier racecourse prior to being appointed as the main contractor for the Wetherby Racecourse project.

Jonathan Sizer, Managing Director for the Lindum York division, said “Our understanding of the importance of balancing the construction requirements with that of a busy, and very popular, racecourse proved invaluable in successfully completing this project. Having previous experience of working on a ‘live’ premier racecourse gave us the knowledge and practical skills to effectively manage the construction works with minimal disruption to the race programme and retain ‘business as usual’ for the racegoers .”
