Lindum has started work on 15 new business units at Discovery Park in North Hykeham, near Lincoln.
Groundworks have begun on a 1.25 acre space for start-up and growing businesses, which will be called Discovery Court.
North Kesteven District Council acquired the site from Lindum as part of a design and build contract. Once complete, the development will be owned by the Council.
Coronavirus delayed the original timescales set out, however with Lindum’s construction teams now breaking ground it’s hoped that the units will be on track for a spring 2021 completion.
A socially distanced sod-cutting ceremony was held on Thursday 25th June with representatives from Lindum Group, North Kesteven District Council and agents Banks Long and Co.
Leader of North Kesteven District Council, Councillor Richard Wright said the scheme is a mark of confidence in the District and local businesses.
“It’s exciting to be breaking ground with Lindum in preparation to build these units and I look forward to seeing the positive impact they will bring in the LN6 area and more widely,” he said.
“The scheme is a reminder that our District is still a flourishing one, and despite all the challenges coronavirus has thrown our way it remains a great place to live and work.
“Discovery Court is not only be a boost for our local economy, but also shows confidence in our communities and the continued growth of North Kesteven.”
The new development will take up 1.25 acres of Discovery Park, leaving 4.25 acres still available.
Lindum has already built a new home for Lincoln Precision Engineering on neighbouring land and is confident these units will prove popular with businesses looking for a new home in a thriving commercial community.
Lindum Development manager Matthew Carter said the units on Discovery Court will range in size from 750 to 2,750 sq ft.
“They will be split across three blocks and arranged in a courtyard style around a central access road. A total of 29 parking spaces will be available,” he said.
“We are very happy to be on site now and to be moving forward with this development.”
North Kesteven District Council runs a portfolio of 100 commercial units, workshops and work spaces spread across the District.
Banks Long and Co is the marketing agents for the wider Discovery Park development.
