Greggs Baker House
New, high quality 2500m² bakery to facilitate the relocation of 2 bakeries from the centre of Penrith improving production efficiencies, energy costs and logistics.
Situated close to the M6, Baker House is on a sloping site which required extensive remodelling to provide the bakery with level access throughout for production, deliveries and despatch vehicles. Baker House has a raised car park area and entry into the new building is via a bridge structure to the first floor.
The new facility was constructed on traditional pad foundations with a portal framed steel structure. Composite roof cladding panels were installed and tied into external foodsafe wall panels. Services include refrigeration and ventilation providing a fully temperature controlled environment, new oven rooms with stainless steel wall and ceiling panels.
On completion of the project Nigel Oldham, Group Production Director for Greggs plc said "We enjoyed working with Lindum on this scheme and their pro-active attitude was very welcome. Designs were developed and problems were solved during a two stage tender period. The Lindum Team demonstrated their commitment to our scheme and, as a consequence, when construction started on site there were minimal changes and work progressed extremely well. We are very pleased with the end product."
