Greggs Clydesmill Bakery
Design and build of a new 1150 square metre freezer extension and a 350 square metre traywash extension, including external yard area and internal modification works.
The works included service diversions, ground improvement and piled foundations with retaining walls on three sides, integrating four loading docks into the precast units. The freezer floor is protected from ground heave by a glycol heater pipe installation. We installed a 200mm sprinkler main spanning 70m through a roof void installed off a suspended scaffold structure.
A new office area above the freezer airlocks was created from white wall panels to give a clean and bright, cost effective space. The air locks, one to each of the dock leveller stations, had a full dehumidification system installed to ensure moist air is kept out of the freezer, thus helping to reduce ice build up.
For the first time on a Greggs project, we installed Efaflex freezer doors which are working well and have shown a significant saving to other, better known freezer doors. The freezer has been lined to all walls with stainless steel kerbs, which gives an excellent quality finish and helps to ensure no metal discolouration and corrosion, which is encountered when using galvanised steel.
