The building comprises high specification cladding and specialist double glazing. The colour scheme pays homage to the Client for which the building is used. Internally, the building is finished to a high standard to meet the requirements of the Client to ensure students learn and work in state of the art facilities.

The initial problem on site was contamination left by previous activities. The original factory was demolished and asbestos removed using relevant expertise. However, soil on site was contaminated due to seepage of oil from a large concrete tank buried two metres deep. Due to the scale of the problem the project was reprogrammed to accommodate the time it took to resolve all the contamination issues. Throughout this Lindum Construction’s expertise was utilised to ensure lowest cost/time solutions were selected.

As an integral part of Lindum’s ongoing commitment to promoting careers within the Construction industry, we were pleased to host numerous site visits from university students throughout the construction project.

The completed facility accommodates new undergraduate, postgraduate and low carbon R&D programmes; creating a ‘Faculty on the Factory Floor’ enabling students to be directly involved with the latest technologies on the manufacturing front line.
