Priestgate - Residential Development
Cross Keys Homes Limited
A new build and restoration of two and three-storey flats on the historic street of Priestgate in Peterborough City centre. Of the 29 flats built, 19 of them were new build and 10 of them are in the refurbished Grade II Listed Building.
During the restoration process of the Listed buildings we worked closely with the local authority and their Conservation Officer to ensure that they were restored following the correct guidelines. The image of the building is of importance to its heritage and therefore all the restored features had to mirror the original look, for example the windows are of a vertical sash design. Equally the new build of 19 flats had to mirror the Listed buildings, this meant the same type of brick and colour was used, identical window frames and slate was used on all new roofing to provide a heritage appearance.
Within the grounds we landscaped the area as well as constructing a courtyard to create car parking for residents.
Detailed planning was carried out to manage the logistics of bringing materials on and off site as access was restricted due to the busy city centre location. Booking in times were monitored to ensure large plant machinery or delivery vehicles didn't arrive on site during busy times. Throughout the construction there was only one partial road closure needed for services work.
The scheme achieved Code of Sustainable Homes Level 3.
