Lindum York built an extension to an existing egg manufacturing facility in Knaresborough for client WM Morrison Supermarket Plc at its Chippendale Foods factory, a leading supplier of free range eggs to UK retailers and food service companies.

The new warehouse hosts a new packing line that packs 190,000 eggs per hour and is so efficient that the client could reduce labour by cancelling the night shift.
New loading bays and a service yard complement the new portal frame extension.

Work was due to begin in March 2020, just as the first lockdown came into effect, which meant the start on site was delayed until Covid measures were put in place by ourselves and our client.

The site remained fully operational whilst the works were undertaken and, from the outset, we maintained clear communication with the on-site team to ensure there was no disruption to the day-to-day running of the facility.

Despite the issues caused by the pandemic, work continued to be on programme and, due to our success, we were given an additional instruction to manage the installation of the facility’s new machinery, along with some key client subcontractors.
