Project Overview
Lindum was appointed to complete the design and build contract for Franklin College, delivering a new teaching block with modern facilities for students and staff.
The project included eight classrooms, a 160-seat lecture theatre, a new reception and entrance area, and improved teaching spaces. Taking over a project midway through construction required careful coordination to understand the existing works, resolve outstanding issues and safely bring the development back on track within a live education environment.
Working closely with the college, design team and supply chain, we adopted a collaborative approach to manage the challenges inherited from the previous contractor. This included retaining 86% of the existing supply chain, helping maintain valuable project knowledge, support local businesses and minimise delays.
The project also benefited from Lindum’s in-house expertise, with our Joinery team designing, manufacturing and installing the bespoke reception counter. This helped ensure quality and programme certainty while creating a welcoming entrance space for students, staff and visitors.
Careful planning was required throughout the works to minimise disruption to college operations. We worked closely with staff, coordinated activities around the academic calendar and remained on site after completion to support the handover process.
Through collaboration, careful planning and a focus on quality, we successfully delivered a modern learning environment that will support Franklin College’s students for years to come.
