Project Overview
Lindum carried out alterations which transformed a two Grade II listed buildings into a 48 bedroom hotel on a tight site in the centre of Stratford upon Avon. To the rear of the building, a three storey extension was built.
The project involved converting of a pair of Victorian town houses which had previously been used as homes, a social club, doctor’s surgery and council offices. On the back of the conversion was a large timber frame extension.
The hotel had 48 bedrooms which included two suites in the grade II building and a further 7 executive feature rooms. Function facilities include a meeting room, private dining room, conference room, bistro restaurant, external courtyard and a bar.
The Grade II listed building works were done with agreement and close supervision of the Conservation Officer.
These works included underpinning to facilitate the new lift, refurbishment of the existing doors and sash windows, fire protection added between existing joists, reroofing with existing tiles, localised pointing with lime mortar and repairs internally to lath and plaster and woodwork.
Damp proofing works and radon fans were installed within the basement, as well as the construction of a keg hoist which was formed within the vaulted barrel brickwork.
