Lindum successfully refurbished Stanground Fire Station in Peterborough, giving it a fresh, modern look.

As part of the project, our team safely removed asbestos, installed new ceilings and flooring, and fitted Whiterock cladding in the kitchen, toilets, and shower rooms. We also reconfigured office spaces and carried out full internal decoration. Firefighters’ dormitories, the kitchen, dining room, TV room, shower rooms, and toilets were all refurbished, and two new gas central heating boilers and a new electrical mains board were installed.

To improve functionality, we relocated the existing breathing apparatus cleaning room from the office area to the fire appliance bay. This allows firefighters to clean their BA sets and kit before entering the offices and welfare areas.

Externally, we installed three EV charging points in line with the fire service’s commitment to achieving Net Zero Carbon and upgraded the building’s façade for a more modern appearance.

Throughout the project, we worked closely with Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service, particularly the station personnel, to phase our work effectively. By ensuring clear segregation between construction areas and operational zones, firefighters were able to continue operating from the station for most of the refurbishment programme.
