Project Overview
Lindum Group completed a new £6.5 million Institute of Technology (IoT) building at Loughborough College, a key development in the East Midlands’ growing tech and skills education sector.
The three-storey facility forms part of the East Midlands Institute of Technology (EMIoT) partnership between Loughborough College and Loughborough University.
The building features nine classrooms, four science laboratories, two open-plan working spaces, and three offices, providing modern learning environments to support programmes in engineering, manufacturing, ICT, science, mathematics, and construction.
Designed with sustainability at its core, the IoT building incorporates highly efficient passive design, advanced insulation, mechanical ventilation with heat recovery, heat pumps, and rooftop solar panels, aligning with a net-zero carbon future.
The facility aims to equip students with critical engineering, digital, and AI skills, helping to address the regional and national demand for a net-zero, technologically advanced workforce. Lindum’s construction team focused on delivering a high-quality, future-focused building that will support the East Midlands as a hub for innovation and skills development.
Work was procured through Pagabo’s Medium Works framework, with the IoT forming part of a broader EMIoT programme that includes an extension at Derby College and the refurbishment of an existing University of Derby building, strengthening the region’s capability in technology and advanced skills training.
