Project Overview

Share Article:

Lindum completed the refurbishment of a mincemeat production facility for Hain Daniels Group at its Histon Sweet Spreads site.

The project aimed to upgrade an extension of the original factory to meet modern food production standards while increasing capacity to support future growth.

The refurbishment involved a full internal strip-out and reconfiguration of the facility, including:

  • Installation of new drainage systems
  • Decorative and white walling works
  • Replacement of doors
  • Application of new resin flooring

During initial groundwork for the drainage installation, the Lindum team encountered unexpected subsoil conditions that were unsuitable for refurbishment. To address this, a structural engineer was engaged to assess the situation. Working in collaboration with a specialist engineering consultant, Lindum developed and implemented a solution that ensured the stability of the new construction while keeping the project on track.

One of the key challenges of this project was carrying out the refurbishment while the factory remained operational. Lindum worked closely with Hain Daniels’ staff to carefully phase construction activities, ensuring minimal disruption to daily production. Effective communication and strategic planning allowed work to progress safely and efficiently, with no impact on output.

Despite the unforeseen ground conditions, Lindum successfully delivered a modernised facility tailored to the client’s needs. The refurbished space now meets current food production regulations and enhances efficiency, supporting Hain Daniels Group’s ongoing growth in the food manufacturing sector.
