Project Overview
Lindum was appointed by Lincolnshire County Council, via the Scape Regional Construction framework, to carry out car park improvements at Anderby Creek beach.
The existing overspill car park, a worn grass area, could not accommodate enough visitors and was prone to flooding, while the access road was damaged with potholes.
Lindum worked with the council’s engineer and architect to redevelop the area, creating 53 marked parking spaces. Grasscrete was chosen for its sustainability, blending with the surrounding landscape while providing a permeable surface to manage drainage and reduce flooding. Four mature trees were removed and replaced to further encourage water infiltration.
Additional work included resurfacing the access road, re-lining the existing car park, and remodelling a problematic roundabout to improve vehicle access, turning, and drainage. The new layout preserved the heritage of the original Palm Leaf Dance Hall roundabout, while also making the area more accessible to visitors.
The project was completed in time for the tourist season, increasing parking capacity to 80 spaces and improving access to public toilets. Phased works ensured minimal disruption to local residents and visitors, while a road sweeper kept the site clean throughout.
