Project Overview

Share Article:

Lindum built a new two-storey boathouse with an 80-seater restaurant space and sailing and watersports facilities, plus permeable car parking, at King’s Mill Reservoir, Sutton-in-Ashfield.

Phase One involved the demolition of the existing boathouse (we installed bat boxes to facilitate demolition), followed by groundworks, drainage, services and the building of 136 permeable car parking spaces in line with the principles of Sustainable Drainage Systems.

Construction of the new boathouse began in Phase Two. Both floors have their own individual entrances and exits providing dedicated access for building users.

On the ground floor, we built accessible changing facilities, including ‘changing places’ toilets, plus storage and a meeting and training room.

Our careful and considerate project management, including segregating the site from public areas of the popular beauty spot, ensured safe and uninterrupted access to the reservoir throughout the construction period.

Ashfield District Council tasked Lindum following a successful Towns Fund application to improve facilities to attract more visitors and create jobs.

The project was procured via SCAPE.
