Lindum Group picked up two awards at the 2026 Lincolnshire Construction and Property Awards.
Held last night at the Lincolnshire Showground, the ceremony brought together professionals from across the construction and property sectors to celebrate innovation, skills and social impact.
The refurbishment of Lincoln’s listed Barbican Hotel was named Retrofit & Regeneration Project of the Year while Lindum was named Environmental & Sustainability Employer of the Year.
The Retrofit & Regeneration award recognised the transformation of the Grade II listed Barbican Hotel, a landmark building opposite Lincoln railway station that had stood empty and deteriorating for more than a decade.
Originally built in 1867, the building has been carefully restored and repurposed as a new creative hub for the city, forming part of the wider Cornhill Quarter regeneration.
The project combined heritage conservation with modern construction techniques, including detailed surveys, 3D digital scanning and extensive use of Lindum’s in-house joinery and specialist trades to recreate historic features.

The refurbishment was delivered in two phases between 2023 and 2024 and funded through a mix of Lincolnshire Co-op investment and public funding, including support from the Be Lincoln Town Deal Fund and Historic England.
Works were delivered in partnership with Lincolnshire Co-op, Framework Architects, City of Lincoln Council’s heritage team, Eddisons and the University of Lincoln. Judges praised the scheme for balancing conservation, innovation and value for money, while delivering clear community and cultural benefits.

Lindum’s second award of the night, Environmental & Sustainability Employer of the Year, reflected the company’s wider approach to sustainability across its business. Lindum has committed to becoming a Net Zero Carbon company, supported by significant investment in renewable energy, waste reduction and low-carbon transport.
The company operates its own waste recycling centre in Saxilby, diverting more than 47,500 tonnes of waste from landfill in 2024 with a recycling rate of over 99%, and has installed more than 1,500 photovoltaic panels across its business parks and offices. Its growing fleet of electric and hybrid vehicles, van-sharing schemes and energy-efficiency upgrades have already delivered measurable carbon savings.
As an employee-owned business, Lindum was also recognised for embedding sustainability into its culture, with staff actively involved in environmental initiatives and carbon reduction planning.

Simon Beardsley, Chief Executive of the Lincolnshire Chamber of Commerce, praised the standard of entries across the awards, highlighting the role of innovation and collaboration in shaping the future of the sector.
“Thank you to all our sponsors, partners, and guests whose support and involvement made this event such a success: Lincoln College, BPM Architecture, Shakespeare Martineau and Morrons, Wood Moore & Co, APSS, Magna Radio, Evolve Geo Environmental Limited, Simons Designs, Willmott Dixon, JLR, R G Carter.
“These awards not only recognise the standout individuals and teams who have delivered exceptional work in their fields, but also underscore the ongoing progress, innovation, and forward momentum shaping the construction and property sectors in Greater Lincolnshire .”
For Lindum, the double win marks a significant endorsement of both its project delivery and its long-term environmental strategy, reinforcing its position as a sustainable construction partner and heritage-led regeneration specialist across Greater Lincolnshire and beyond.
In addition, the renovation of Lincoln’s White Hart Hotel, delivered by Lindum’s construction team, was a finalist in the Development Project of the Year (over £5Million) and Tourism & Leisure Project of the Year categories.
