Project Overview
Construction of 48 apartments together with communal facilities in one four-storey block for LACE Housing Association in Grantham, designed to offer older residents independence whilst providing care and support. Residents were given a choice of one or two bedroom flats and were also given the option to own or rent the property.
The apartments are Lifetime Homes compliant, with a BREEAM rating of Very Good, with structural upgrades for the future provision of hoists between bedroom and bathroom. Bathroom walls were strengthened for fixing mobility aids. Rainwater harvesting feeds the sprinklers, WCs and the heating. Hot and cold water is provided by a Communal Combined Heat and Power System, which also provides electrical power to the building. Any excess electricity is sold back to the grid. The building’s CO2 emissions are reduced by 45% when compared to Building Regulations requirements at the time of construction.
Two of Lindum Group’s apprentices worked on the project; we understand the need to develop our young people and Apprenticeships are just one of the ways in which we work to promote sustainable communities.
“The Association was pleased with the pre-contract and contract period. Staff demonstrated skills, knowledge and an understanding of the Association’s expectations and responded positively to any issues/concerns raised during the programme.” – quote from Nick Chambers, Chief Executive of LACE Housing Association.
