Creating employment opportunities and upskilling local people is at the heart of new construction frameworks, which have selected Lindum as a delivery partner.

YORhub has appointed Lindum to two of its frameworks, which provide construction services to the public sector across Yorkshire, Humber and Lincolnshire, as well as parts of Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire.

YORbuild3 Medium Works and YORbuild3 Minor Works can be used by clients to access pre-approved building contractors to get their plans off the ground quickly and smoothly.

As well as ensuring the projects remain feasible and compliant, the frameworks also make sure construction work delivers additional value to the local community.

Any scheme delivered through the frameworks will be accompanied by an Education & Skills Plan. This will lay out a contractor’s ‘social value’ commitments, including the proposed used of apprentices, potential work placements and work experience opportunities.

The contractor will be monitored on their performance throughout construction and could be fined if they don’t fulfil their pledges.

Lindum Group Framework Manager Matthew Jones said he was delighted that Lindum had won a place on YORhub for the first time.

“These frameworks will allow us to work directly and more collaboratively, while remaining compliant, with our existing public sector clients across the Yorkshire and Humber region. It also provides us with an opportunity to explore new relationships with clients already familiar with YORhub.

“Having offices at Elvington in York, as well as in Lincoln, means we can consistently deliver projects using a mix of our own workforce and our well-established local supply chain partners across the entire geographical area.

“YORhub’s commitment to added social value also aligns with Lindum’s priorities. Our inhouse apprenticeship scheme, for example, has a 100 per cent completion rate and our latest graduates have all been offered fulltime jobs within the Group.

“In addition, improving sustainability and delivering reductions in waste and carbon is a requirement for the new YORbuild3 frameworks. Lindum currently recycles 99 percent of waste that has been diverted from landfill and are committed to being carbon neutral by 2035.”

Following a competitive tender process, Lindum was selected to deliver construction projects up to £4m as well as housing schemes (both below and above 25 units).

Since YORbuild was first launched in 2009, YORhub has delivered over 1,500 building projects worth £2.5 billion for more than 90 public sector clients. YORhub predicts that around £600 million will be spent through the new frameworks over the next four years.
