Lindum has handed over 38 affordable homes in Market Harborough to repeat client Platform Housing.
The development in Naseby Square comprises a mix of affordable rental and shared ownership properties and its completion was marked with a visit to site by Harborough, Oadby and Wigston MP Neil O’Brien.
During his visit, Mr O’Brien toured the development with Platform’s Group Chief Executive Elizabeth Froude and Lindum Group’s Managing Director Darren King. The tour included the residents’ lounge and communal gardens that form part of the development.
Mr O’Brien said: “It was a pleasure to meet people in the new houses and see how the previous site of homes and derelict garages has been transformed into new affordable housing.”
The group met with new resident Nicola Baker, who said she was delighted to be able to find affordable property in the area.
“I feel like I’ve finally found my place. After six weeks I feel so comfortable here and am enjoying the life that Market Harborough is giving me. I appreciate the finished development – it feels modern and welcoming and well designed. Hopefully over time we’ll build a sense of community here.”
Marion Duffy, Chief Operations Officer for Platform, said: “These new homes look great, and it has been fantastic to reach the point where local people are moving in and having a place to call home. I want to thank Lindum Group for their work and more importantly the local community, whose support has been key in reaching this brilliant conclusion. I also want to thank those officers at the local authority who worked with us on this long-term vision to bring affordable housing to Naseby that has been so well received by residents and neighbours.”
Community engagement formed an important part of the development process at Naseby Square. Lindum collaborated with Platform to host a ‘Meet the Contractor’ event prior to construction starting. This session gave residents the opportunity to view the plans and photographs, meet the project and management team, and raise questions about the scheme.
During the project, communication with residents, businesses, and stakeholders was maintained through monthly newsletter drops, public notices, and press releases and social media updates. A community information board was installed on site with a QR code linking to project drawings, progress statements, and drone photography.
Darren King, Managing Director of Lindum Group, said: “We are pleased to have delivered these 38 homes at Naseby Square and it’s great to see residents like Nicola moving into their new homes. This substantial project required careful planning and coordination, and we have worked closely with Platform Housing throughout to bring it to completion.”
An event for the community to see both the lounge and gardens is planned for July 30th whilst more people continue to move into new homes on the development in the coming weeks.
