Our Legal Services team provides support to all of Lindum Group’s divisions on a wide range of legal matters. As well as reviewing, negotiating, and producing contract documents, the team provides bespoke training, guidance and advice on all aspects of legal, financial and business risk.

An opportunity has arisen for a talented legal advisor to join our legal team, you will be responsible for reviewing, negotiating, and producing contract documents and providing professional guidance and advice to our construction divisions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing legal advice and support to the Group’s contracting and service divisions.
  • Drafting and negotiating all manner of construction documentation, including building contracts, sub-contracts, consultant appointments and collateral warranties.
  • Assisting in the conduct of contentious matters, including liaising with externally appointed advisors/counsel as required.
  • Keeping up to date with developments in construction law (and the wider industry) and advising the Group on any implications.
  • Assisting in maintaining and developing the department’s precedents and templates.

 Qualifications & Skills

Qualifications: Qualified solicitor or chartered legal executive, an interest in construction law is highly desirable.

Experience: Newly qualified or up to 1-year PQE, experience in a construction seat during a period of recognised training is desirable (or equivalent experience gained in-house). Familiarity with the JCT and NEC suites of construction contracts is advantageous.

Skills: Good commercial awareness, drafting and negotiation skills and an ability to work well as part of a small team. Proficiency with Microsoft office and legal research tools is essential.

 Personal Attributes: You must be motivated, flexible and display a keen interest in construction related matters. You must be eager to build relationships and communicate effectively to influence decision making to best mitigate risk and meet business objectives.

Employment Terms and Benefits

The role is full-time, 37 ½ hours per week (8.30am to 5.00pm, Monday to Friday) and based at our offices on Lindum Business Park on Station Road, North Hykeham, south of Lincoln.
