Lindum Group is showcasing its talented young people as this year’s National Apprentice Week begins today.
The construction company currently has 19 apprentices across the business in the trades, human resources, administration, mechanics, departmental management and higher degree apprenticeships.
Emily Taylor, 25, joined Lindum as an apprentice in Lindum’s legal department in 2021 after reading law at the University of Lincoln.
The recently qualified solicitor said: “I had not considered construction law as a career until I did work experience with a barrister who specialised in that field, and that sparked my interest.
“I saw a job advert for a legal administrator at Lindum and successfully applied.
“Lindum put me through two years’ training to qualify as a solicitor with the Solicitors Regulation Authority.
“There is genuine commitment from Lindum to invest in its employees and the development of young talent.”
Apprentice solicitor Tye Kirk, 22, started with Lindum in 2024.
“My parents own a construction company so I was always around the industry,” said Tye.
“After graduating in law from the University of Lincoln, I decided that I wanted to do my Solicitors Qualifying Examination away from a traditional education setting, so I decided to look for paralegal roles and applied to Lindum.
“Construction law is an interesting area of law which I think would appeal to anyone with an interest in contract or business law.
“By working in-house at Lindum I’m getting hands on experience and I have a personal connection to the company.”
Joshua Mobbs, 19, began his three-year business administration apprenticeship within the Lindum Joinery workshop in January.
He said: “After leaving school at 17, I did factory work and travelled. My granddad was a joiner so I was drawn to joinery and sent my CV into Lindum.
“I’m learning on the job and studying Level 3 Business Administration at Lincoln College over the course of 18 months.
“Being an apprentice at Lindum is so much more than a 9-to-5 office job.
“It’s great to be learning new skills and gaining experience and qualifications.”
John Levey, Lindum Group Apprentice Manager, said: “Apprenticeships are a fantastic way of future proofing roles in the business, whether that be in growing talent or upskilling existing employees.
“They bring a fresh perspective, and in doing so, we want to support, progress and continue to develop their skills.”
National Apprentice Week runs from February 10 to 14.
