Lindum is continuing to strengthen its commitment to site safety through a series of practical, on-site training sessions focused on working at height.
As well as relying on traditional classroom-based learning, we’re giving teams hands-on experience in real working environments – an approach that’s proving far more effective for site-based roles.
Recent sessions have taken place at OneSchool Global in Northampton and at our Little Downham housing development. The sessions were led by Contracts Managers Colin Knight and John Ginnelly.
Colin and John delivered a presentation focused on Lindum’s Working at Height Hierarchy Minimum Standard, reinforcing the importance of following a structured approach to risk.
While steps and ladders are not banned, the training emphasised that the full hierarchy of control must always be considered, supported by appropriate risk assessments and method statements. Wherever possible, safer solutions, such as equipment with handrails, should be prioritised.
A key part of the sessions involved introducing new equipment that Lindum has invested in to help teams work more safely and in line with company standards. By demonstrating its use in a live site setting, teams were able to better understand how to apply safer methods in their day-to-day work.

Lindum Peterborough Managing Director, Darren King, said: “Our priority is making sure everyone goes home safe at the end of the day, and that starts with giving our teams the right knowledge and equipment to do their jobs properly. This kind of hands-on training is exactly how we bring our standards to life on site – by showing, not just telling.
“It’s encouraging to see the engagement from our teams and the practical improvements this approach is delivering. By investing in better equipment and delivering training in real working environments, we’re making safety more meaningful, more relevant, and ultimately more effective.”
