Six Lindum colleagues rolled up their sleeves to support a major volunteering initiative at Rawcliffe Country Park, helping improve access and enhance one of York’s most important green spaces.
Working as part of York Cares’ 2026 Big Community Challenge, Ready, Set, Rawcliffe!, Lindum employees spent the morning carrying out practical improvement works alongside other volunteers and environmental partners.
The team cut back overgrown vegetation and cleared border areas to help keep pathways accessible for visitors, while also assisting with the installation of timber sleepers to create a safer entrance to the park.

Lindum’s Social Value lead Hayley Cowell said: “It was great to spend time outdoors making a visible difference to a local community asset. Rawcliffe Country Park is an important green space for York and it was rewarding to help improve access for visitors while supporting local biodiversity.”
Lindum participated as a member of York Cares, the city’s employee-volunteering charity, working in partnership with York Cares and environmental specialists supporting the project. The month-long challenge brings together hundreds of volunteers to carry out environmental improvements across Rawcliffe Country Park and the neighbouring floodplain meadows.
The park has undergone significant change in recent years due to major flood defence works, and the volunteering programme is helping to restore habitats, improve infrastructure and make the site more welcoming for residents and visitors.
The event builds on Lindum’s long-standing commitment to volunteering in York.
Lindum MD James Nellist said: “Last year, we supported improvement works at St Nicks Nature Reserve, helping enhance another valued local wildlife site.
“Through projects such as these, Lindum continues to support communities across the region, contributing skills, time and enthusiasm to initiatives that leave a lasting positive impact.”
