Lindum’s team delivering an expansion of Primark at White Rose Shopping Centre in Leeds has been recognised for its excellent performance following its latest Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS) assessment.
The project achieved impressive scores during a recent monitoring visit, with the CCS assessor describing the project as operating to a “continued excellent standard”.
The £9.2 million development, being delivered on behalf of Landsec, will more than double the size of the existing Primark store, increasing its footprint from 26,200 sq ft to 55,700 sq ft. Construction is progressing well, with completion expected in 2027.
The CCS report highlighted the project’s strong leadership, effective environmental management and positive culture across site. Praise was given for Lindum’s proactive approach to workforce development, stakeholder engagement and carbon awareness.
Since the previous CCS visit, the project team has strengthened its environmental commitments by incorporating carbon reduction awareness into site inductions and toolbox talks, helping to ensure sustainability remains at the forefront of day-to-day operations.
The assessor also commended the team’s communication arrangements with White Rose Shopping Centre management, ensuring businesses, visitors and stakeholders are kept informed of project activities and any potential disruption.
Community engagement continues to be a key focus, with the team supporting local careers events, hosting college visits to showcase opportunities in construction and taking part in charitable fundraising activities, including a recent bike ride supporting a local children’s charity.
The report recognised several examples of best practice across the project, including robust environmental controls, comprehensive health and safety management, inclusive recruitment processes and strong workforce welfare initiatives. Mental health support was also highlighted, with awareness campaigns, Mental Health First Aiders, partnerships with industry charities and wellbeing initiatives available to the workforce.
Lindum York MD James Nellist said: “We’re delighted that the project has received such positive feedback from the Considerate Constructors Scheme. These scores reflect the commitment and professionalism of everyone involved in delivering the White Rose Primark expansion.
“We’re particularly pleased with the recognition for our community engagement, environmental performance and the positive culture we continue to foster on site.”
The CCS monitor concluded that the project demonstrates a proactive approach to supporting and developing its workforce while maintaining high standards of environmental stewardship and community consideration throughout the construction process.
