A flagship affordable housing scheme delivered by Lindum has been recognised in the 2026 Grantham Civic Society Townscape Awards.

Knapp House, in Swinegate, delivered on behalf of South Kesteven District Council, was named among this year’s award winners at a ceremony held at Grantham House on 10 October.

The awards, presented by Grantham Town Ambassador Councillor Elvis Stooke, celebrate projects that make a positive contribution to Grantham’s built environment through nominations submitted by members of the public.

The development transformed part of an underused town centre car park into 20 high-quality affordable apartments, helping to address local housing need while bringing a brownfield site back into productive use.

Delivered over a 74-week construction programme, the £4.1 million scheme was completed on time and within budget despite the challenges of a constrained town centre location, restricted access arrangements and complex demolition requirements.

The award is the latest recognition for the development, which previously won Best Development Under £5 Million at the Inside Housing Development Awards 2025.
Beyond providing new homes, the project delivered significant benefits for the wider community. Lindum’s focus on local investment saw 79% of labour and 83% of subcontractor spend sourced from within 40 miles of the site, generating more than £1.6 million in social value. The project also supported 24 apprentices through 51 weeks of onsite training, achieved 100% SME engagement and delivered 100% fair payment across the supply chain.

Darren King, Managing Director at Lindum, said: “We’re incredibly pleased to see Swinegate apartments recognised by the Grantham Civic Society. This project demonstrates how challenging urban sites can be transformed into high-quality, affordable homes that make a lasting contribution to the local community.

“Working closely with South Kesteven District Council, the design team and our supply chain partners, we’ve delivered a development that not only addresses local housing needs but also enhances the townscape and creates lasting social value for Grantham.”

The Townscape Award recognises not only the quality of the finished development but also its lasting impact on the local community, economy and built environment, creating homes that will benefit Grantham residents for years to come.
