Lindum has completed a new pedestrianised retail high street and doctors’ surgery at Olive Lane, Waverley, near Rotherham, for Harworth Group.
Tesco Express is the first business to start trading from the site, welcoming its first customers on Friday, March 14.
Specsavers, Little Olives Day Nursery, Karobar Indian restaurant, Hall Court Vets and the NHS Waverley Medical Centre are set to open in the coming months.
Peter Massie, senior development manager at Harworth, said: “This is an exciting year at Waverley – there’s lots happening across the development and the opening of Olive Lane to the community is a real highlight.
“Harworth has focused on creating a vibrant place that meets the needs of those living and working at Waverley. It will be great to see the high street come to life over the next few months, and for the community to start using the new amenities.
“We’re also looking forward to welcoming more businesses to Olive Lane. There are some additional commercial units available for occupation.”
James Nellist, Managing Director of Lindum York, which delivered the works for Harworth Group, said: “We have worked closely with Harworth Group in recent years to create several high specification industrial spaces at its Advanced Manufacturing Park at Waverley.
“It has been great to see this partnership continue to flourish and we are delighted to continue to support Harworth Group’s development aspirations in delivering the new medical centre, retail centre, car park and new road at Olive Lane.”
Waverley is a new 740-acre development built on the former Orgreave Colliery.
It comprises 1,700 new homes, a primary school and the Advanced Manufacturing Park (AMP), where Lindum has previously handed over four industrial units.
Lindum Construction is currently building 32 fully electric homes at Waverley for Forge New Homes, scheduled for completion in late 2025 (pictured above).
The properties promise to deliver free-flowing layouts, individual south-facing gardens, parking spaces and EV charging ports.
