Three national retailers have been handed the keys to their new shop units in uphill Lincoln.
B&M Bargains, JYSK and Sue Ryder have taken possession of their new homes on the Deacon Road Retail Park.
The shops will open to the public in the coming weeks, once each business has completed its fit out.
The units have been built on the former Allied Bakeries site which had been left derelict since its demolition over a decade ago. They were built by North Hykeham-based construction company Lindum.
Lindum director Stuart Mitchell said he was pleased to see the site successfully regenerated.
“This project was the result of a joint venture between us and Castle Square Developments, whose extensive expertise in retail investment and development complements the skills we have as builders,” he said.
“The new units have been built by Lindum Construction, with timber shop fronts made by Lindum Joinery and roofing and cladding installed by Lindum-owned specialists KGM.
“The end result looks great. They are spacious and contemporary in design and have brought this old industrial site back into good use,” he said.
“Lindum was involved from the very start and we have been able to bring our full complement of construction services to the project – from negotiating the land sale to building the timber facades, which were installed by our specialist carpenters.
“It’s great to see investment in this part of Lincoln and the new tenants will add to the retail offering and create welcome new jobs.”
As previously revealed, Danish-owned furniture brand JYSK is relocating from its site at St Marks Shopping Centre to the new premises. It said the outlet would be a “˜Concept 3.0 store’, complete with room lay outs.
Meanwhile, B&M is adding to its existing presence in Lincoln by taking a 22,000 sq ft unit, combined with a further 7,500 sq ft outdoor area for a garden centre. Charity chain Sue Ryder will take the other 5,000 sq ft unit.
The development was marketed by Lincoln-based agents Banks Long and Co. Associate Director Lewis Cove said: “˜It is fantastic to see Deacon Road Retail Park completed. It looks good and is ready for the well-established national retailers to take occupation.
