Lindum is sponsoring York City Ladies Development player Ruby Watt for a second season, following a successful first spell.

The Lindum donation will go towards team kit, equipment, and training resources to continue the upward growth of the development team and maintain their good form in the current season.

In her first season with the MinsterBelles, Ruby was part of the team which gained promotion to Division 1 Tier 6 North East Regional Football League, where they have started strong so far this season.

Ruby’s father, Dave Watt, is a Site Manager at Lindum. He approached Lindum York Managing Director James Nellist, who was happy to help and wished Ruby luck in her second season.

James said: “When Dave first approached me for Lindum to provide some funding for his daughter’s football team, I was more than happy to help. We are a close team here at Lindum and we value our staff, so it was important to me that we could support Dave and his daughter.

“It is fantastic to see Ruby progressing so well in the York City Ladies Development team, becoming a vital member of the squad, and providing so many goals to contribute to their success last season. We wish Ruby the best of luck again this season and who knows, we may see her in a Lioness shirt in the near future.”

Ruby finished last season as top goal scorer, netting 37 goals in 13 games. She was also selected for trials for the England Colleges team but suffered an unfortunate calf injury two weeks before.

Outside of playing for York City Ladies, Ruby also plays for the York College Ladies team, which won AOC Team of the Year, AOC National Championship Silver Medallists, Regional 11-a-side Winners, and Regional 7-a-side Winners.
