Lindum has begun work to extend the clubhouse at Edwalton Golf Centre to provide a new multi-functional space for community activities.
The £290,000 investment by Rushcliffe Borough Council (RBC) builds upon on £250,000 previously invested by RBC in the facility, which funded a new bar and café, a community meeting room and an interactive darts game, making it a place for people to visit, socialise and enjoy a range of activities beyond golf.
With a new footpath now open connecting the wider Edwalton Fields development to the Golf Centre, anyone can walk through and take advantage of the club’s café, bar and community space.
The latest project will transform a previously unused area of the clubhouse into a versatile new space, providing additional opportunities for community groups, events and local activities.
RBC is working with Lindum Group to design and deliver this exciting project that will provide a new room for up to 40 people, with its own toilet and kitchenette.
There will also be a small outdoor seating area suitable for both indoor and outdoor events. Associated works also include upgraded thermal insulation, improved drainage and fire prevention measures and the addition of solar panels on the roof, reducing the running costs and carbon footprint of the pavilion.
With plenty of free parking available, the area will be the perfect location for meetings, small corporate conferences, parties, coffee mornings, exercise or dance, children’s groups, and more, offering great flexibility.
Works have now started and will continue until Christmas. The new facility on Wellin Lane, Edwalton, will be managed by LoyalTee Golf on behalf of the council.
Councillor Jonathan Wheeler, RBC’s Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Leisure, Wellbeing and ICT, said: “We’ve allocated £540,000 to support significant improvements at the golf centre in recent years and the extension of the clubhouse is another wonderful example of Rushcliffe Borough Council investing in its communities.
“The centre isn’t just for golfers, it is a valuable asset for anyone to come and meet, be it business or social, and to celebrate special occasions.
“I’m pleased we can add another venue to our extensive range of sites offering rooms for hire. It is also rewarding to know we are reducing the environmental impact by adding solar panels, ensuring the venue remains sustainable for many years to come, in line with our Carbon Clever priorities.”
The works were procured using the Pagabo National Framework for Refit and Refurbishment Solutions and awarded to Lindum following a competitive tender process.
Lindum Group Director Nick Hammond added: “Lindum is pleased to have been awarded the contract to design and deliver this exciting new multi-use community space at Edwalton Golf Centre.
“Over the last few months, our team has been working closely with RBC to develop a layout that makes the very best use of both the building and surrounding landscaped areas. We believe the completed facility will provide a fantastic space for local groups, events and community activities.
“As part of the project, we are also introducing PV solar panels, which will deliver a range of benefits, not only through reduced operating costs but also by improving sustainability and helping to reduce the building’s carbon footprint.
“We are now ready to commence works on site and look forward to transforming this currently disused area into a vibrant new community venue that will serve the local area for many years to come.”
Lex Leisure (LoyalTee Golf) Area Manager Adam Groves said: “We are thrilled with the additional investment from Rushcliffe Borough Council. This fantastic centre offers great golf and so much more. We are incredibly excited to expand our services and offering further to the entire community.”
