Lindum has picked up an award for its construction work at the Hub in Sleaford, Lincolnshire.

The £1.2m renovation scheme was crowned Best Project Under £5m at the Pagabo Awards in Hull last night (February 23rd).

The ceremony was held by Pagabo to recognise work carried out through its construction frameworks, which are used by public sector clients to procure building work.

The Hub, previously known as The National Centre for Craft & Design, was renovated by Lindum BMS on behalf of North Kesteven District Council.

Lindum worked closely with NKDC and Sleaford Town Council to design and construct a new-build single storey ground floor extension of 200sqm to the west side of the existing centre.

Refurbishment and alterations were also made to the existing building, as well as altering the surrounding areas including a jetty area over the River Slea.

Lindum director Richard Shaw said: “We are very pleased that the Hub scheme has been chosen as Pagabo’s Best Project Under £5m. The renovation work we carried out there has produced an excellent community facility for people in Sleaford. The coffee shop and the deck overlooking the River Slea have become incredibly popular with visitors and the public space that’s been created is well used.

“Lindum has delivered 19 projects via the Pagabo construction framework over the past three years and it is proven to be a very popular procurement pathway for clients.”

The award ceremony was held at Pagabo’s offices in Hull.

Pagabo MD Jason Stapley said: “The whole premise of the Pagabo Awards is to celebrate and recognise the projects being procured through our frameworks and carried out by our ecosystem.

“There is such a wealth of amazing work being carried out across the UK through our range of frameworks it makes for a very difficult judging process. Thankfully our team of experts have an eagle eye for spotting businesses going above and beyond ordinary expectations.

“A number of projects for each of the ten categories were nominated by our internal teams, with the overall winners being selected by our senior management team.”

NKDC council leader Richard Wright said: “We couldn’t be more pleased for the Hub to be recognised with this award following the work that’s taken place to turn our £1.2 million vision for the building into reality, from all the initial preparations by our Council teams through to design with architects LK2 and the high quality build programme carried out by Lindum Group.

“It’s been a great reward for all involved to see residents and visitors alike enjoying the refreshed Hub, including a more accessible ground floor gallery area, performing arts and workshop spaces, and an extended shop and CaféBar with outdoor seating overlooking the River Slea. It also comes after the official opening of internationally recognised MRI Software’s new Sleaford office space within the Hub, in December.

“I’d like to thank everyone involved in its success, including of course our dedicated team members and creatives who together ensure there are always new exhibitions and activities to enjoy, and all those who visit. If you’ve not discovered it please do stop by – the team would love to welcome you.”

The Pagabo construction frameworks are available to any publicly-funded organisation wanting to deliver construction schemes. They provide a compliant and straight forward way to access suitable ‘tried and tested’ contractors.
