As National T Level Week begins, Lindum has welcomed 17-year-old Alex Madden on an industry placement, giving him 40 days of experience across different parts of the construction business.
Alex, who lives in Gainsborough and studies at North Lindsey College, is completing a T Level in Design, Surveying and Planning for Construction.
The work experience contributes towards the 45 days of industry experience required as part of his qualification.
Alex is Lindum’s first placement student to move between the company’s departments. Starting with the Joint Ventures team, he has already had the opportunity to use AutoCAD to design two car parks for a land development.
He will then spend time with Construction, Building Maintenance Services, Health and Safety and Holdings, learning all about wide range of services Lindum provides.
Alex, who hopes to pursue a career in construction design or project management, said: “It’s exciting to take what I’ve learned in the classroom and use it on a live project.
“Everyone at Lindum has made me feel welcome, and I’m getting a much clearer picture of where a career in construction could take me.”
Donna Rowland-Tait, Senior HR Adviser and part of the Lindum ‘People Team’ centrally coordinating Alex’s placement, said: “Placements like this turn learning into momentum. By giving Alex meaningful work across our teams, we can help him build confidence, understand the range of careers available and take his next step with real experience behind him.”
Alex is the eighth T Level student Lindum has hosted since the qualifications were launched in 2020. T-Levels are two-year post-GCSE technical qualifications for 16–19-year-old, which are equivalent to three A Levels. The courses comprise 80% classroom study and a 20% (45-day) industry placement.
Stuart Crabb, Curriculum Lead for Construction at North Lindsey College, part of DN Colleges Group, said: “Strong partnerships between education and industry are at the heart of developing the next generation of construction professionals.
“By working closely with employers such as Lindum Group, we are able to provide our T Level students with meaningful industry placements that bring classroom learning to life, allowing them to develop the technical skills, professionalism, and confidence that employers value most.
“Alex’s placement is a fantastic example of what can be achieved when colleges and employers work together with a shared commitment to talent development.
“Through real-world experience on live projects, students gain invaluable insight into industry expectations while building the knowledge, behaviours, and practical skills needed to thrive in their future careers.
“We are incredibly proud of Alex’s achievements and grateful to Lindum Group for their ongoing support in creating transformational opportunities that inspire, develop, and prepare our students for successful careers in construction.”
National T Levels Week 2026 runs from October 19 to 23, which aims to raise awareness of the qualifications, celebrate leaners’ success and showcase supportive employers and education providers.
