Lindum has completed further work at Lincoln Crematorium for City of Lincoln Council.
Refurbishment works at the crematorium began in April 2021 as part of £2.5 million investment from the City of Lincoln Council, and have included construction of a second chapel, which doubles the crematorium’s capacity, enabling more tailored services of varying sizes to be offered on site.
Alongside the second chapel, refurbishment works have included an upgrade to the back of house areas of the main Crematorium building, including the crematory and committal areas, and the inclusion of two new cremators plus new 85 space car park on the existing overspill car park.
New drainage has also been installed across the site.
Cllr Bob Bushell Portfolio Holder for Remarkable Place at City of Lincoln Council said: “Investment into Lincoln Crematorium has been important to ensure this site is kept up to date and at a high standard for families to say goodbye to their loved ones.
“By doubling the capacity of the site, we are future-proofing the facility, preparing for an increase in demand as both the city and its surrounding villages continue to expand.”
Lindum construction manager Mark Leason said the work was procured through the Pagabo construction framework.
He said: “The crematorium remained open Monday to Thursday, so it was especially important that we remained discreet and respectful at all times.
“We undertook noisy works at night and at the weekend to ensure we didn’t cause any further distress to those attending services at the crematorium.
“We are very happy to see the completed project successfully handed over to our client.”
