Lindum Group has been appointed to carry out the redevelopment of Hinchingbrooke Country Park in Huntingdon.
Working in partnership with Huntingdonshire District Council (HDC), our team will deliver a wide-ranging programme of improvements designed to enhance visitor facilities, protect wildlife habitats and secure the long-term future of the popular country park.
Work is due to start on site in April 2026, with completion expected in spring 2027.
The scheme covers the park’s 150 acres of grassland, woodland and lakes, and will include significant upgrades to infrastructure, landscaping and community facilities while ensuring the park remains accessible throughout the construction period.
Lindum will redevelop the Countryside Centre to create a modern, flexible facility including a new café, improved community space and upgraded kitchen, along with new inclusive toilet facilities featuring accessible units, baby-changing provision and a Changing Places installation.
External works will include a redesigned car park with additional spaces, accessible bays and electric vehicle charging points, resurfaced pathways to improve access for all visitors, and habitat improvements to support biodiversity across the site.
Darren King, Director at Lindum Peterborough, said: “Lindum is delighted to be delivering this important project at Hinchingbrooke Country Park and to be working in partnership with Huntingdonshire District Council to bring forward improvements that will benefit both visitors and wildlife.
“We have extensive experience working in live public environments, and careful planning will allow the park to remain open while construction takes place. Our team will phase the works to minimise disruption, maintain safe access routes and ensure visitors can continue to enjoy the park throughout the project.
“Protecting the natural environment will be a key priority. We will put measures in place to safeguard trees, habitats and wildlife, while scheduling deliveries and more disruptive activities to avoid busy periods wherever possible.
“Lindum has delivered a number of projects in sensitive locations such as country parks and visitor attractions, and we will bring the same considerate and collaborative approach here to achieve a high-quality result for the community.”
The redevelopment is funded through the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) and Huntingdonshire District Council capital budgets.
Cllr Julie Kerr, Executive Councillor for Parks and Countryside, Waste and Street Scene, said: “This investment represents a huge step forward for Hinchingbrooke Country Park and the wider community. It’s about enhancing the natural beauty and biodiversity of the park while providing better facilities for all who enjoy this incredible green space. We are committed to making Hinchingbrooke a place where people and wildlife can thrive together.”
During construction, some areas of the park will need to be temporarily restricted. Alternative pedestrian routes will be provided, along with temporary facilities including mobile toilets and catering provision to ensure visitors can continue to use the park.
