Lindum’s strength in tackling complex construction challenges has been recognised after an affordable housing scheme for South Kesteven District Council won Best Development – up to £5m at the Inside Housing Development Awards 2025.

The Swinegate development has transformed part of a car park in Grantham to provide 20 high-quality apartments for local people.

Judges praised the collaboration between project partners and stakeholders, which meant challenges including limited access, tight boundaries and demolition were overcome and the works kept to schedule and budget throughout.

They described the project as “a challenging urban site that has delivered 20 high-quality homes without compromising on design”, adding: “Strong collaboration between partners overcame logistical challenges, delivering the scheme on time and budget to provide much-needed affordable housing.”

Managing Director of Lindum Peterborough Darren King, pictured above with (L-R) Cllr Ashley Baxter, Cllr Virginia Moran and Lindum co-chair Edward Chambers, said: “We’re delighted that Swinegate has won. It demonstrates our commitment to working in partnership with clients and consultants to deliver successful outcomes.

“It’s projects like this that allow us not only to deliver high-quality, value for money construction but also to make a meaningful impact on the local community.

“We’re pleased that this scheme has generated an additional £1.6 million in social value, demonstrating how we can create benefits that go beyond the bricks and mortar.”

Swinegate was announced as the category award winner at the InterContinental O2, London on Tuesday, November 25.

The judges were Anne-Marie Brown, founder of Love to Rent, Richard Cook, chief development officer, Clarion Housing Group and Stephen Kinsella, group major projects director, Barratt Redrow and MADE Partnerships.

Another Lindum project, 50 high quality, energy efficient affordable homes at Bottisham Meadows, Cambridgeshire, delivered for Accent Group, was shortlisted in the Best Affordable Housing Development – £10m to £20m category.
